I'm a newbie.  Our W2003K web server with IIS6 that I inherited died, so I had to rebuild it as W2008SP2 and setup IIS7.  There is one "default" website that hosts access to 4 diferent sites (eg. www.mywebsite.com/joessite1, ,joessite2, joessite3, etc. ) but the main site (eg. www.mywebsite.com) had an Active Directory login feature that I can't get to work.  I don't know if I need to setup a virtual application or how to activate the windows activation feature within the page.  Basically when I navigate to the webpage it goes to what is the default.htm page and just shows the html page and is not interactive.  When I click on the "log in here link" it resolves to a 500 - Internal server error.  

I copied some info from an old image of the dead W2K3 server where it showed a "default.htm properties box" within the IIS managment list under the website, and the ASP.Net tab shows a virtual path to the /software/default.htm path, file location pointing to the Inetpub\wwwroot\software\web.config path; the File tab shows "the content for this resource should come from: The designated file, local path \software\default.htm with read and Log_visits checked; and the Authentication Methods "enable anonymous access is not check but "integrated windows authentication is checked. 

I just don't know how to transfer these features to IIS7

I am building an application using MVC 4 which makes serveral web service calls to a third party application. The API has a couple params such as a Token which must always be passed. I want to store these variables in a configuration file so I created a file called API.config in the root directory of the project. However I'm not really sure how I can read from this configuration file in my classes that make the web service calls.

I tried this but it would not compile,

I have installed an asp.net2.0 application in IIS7, my application creates files in a shared folder, this files are displayed in a page, you just need to push the desired file's button link for the download to begin, when the file has 0Kb the web browser shows the download windows and you can open or save the file as usually but if the file has something the asp.net application shows the an exception. The event viewer showsTransmitFile failed. File Name: \\\\pru-aplbhui01\\TransportFile\\es21022009.txt, HRESULT: 0x800700a1.

Hi,

I developed a web forms system that I deployed several times. At some point I had to go back to a backup, so I deleted the folder in my development machine and copied it again from my backup hard drive. However, since then I have trouble updating the server. Files appear as unchanged in both sides but they are different. I selected one by one to update the server but I am still having differences. Is there any way to reset the status of the files on the server side to force a complete upload?

All of my redirects in my website are redirecting to www.client.domain.com, and we want them to redirect to client.domain.com.  Is there something I need to add to my web.config file or something I need to configure in IIS?  Thank you.

I have an asp .net 4 application configured on a 16 GB memory hardware.
The website is running on its own application pool with below settings.
Private Memory Limit - 0
Virutal Memory Limit - 0
Regular Time Interval - 0

This application uses caching heavily and 16 GB of memory can be filled with in several hours.
We cache every thing we read from the database with a calculated key and a cache key dependency expecting the framework to free memory by removing least used items.
I have below in web.config to limit the cache size close to 8 GB.

but when   i publish this web project on a server(the name,"server-deploy"),then i found that when i use a connection string  of database "integrated Security=SSPI",it became "DOMANI\server-deploy"

If I ftp my web app to a site initially, then I can publsih the changes unless the changes are large at all..a  new file, or something like that. I publsih to azzure and have no problem

with the same app so I know it has something to do with my web server. I think it times out.

The exact message I get is:

Hi I have just opened a 2010 dev studio web project in dev studio 2013, were we have 2 Web Deployment Projects. (ie .wdproj). Both have the message (incompatible) and then underneath "The application is not installed".

Does anyone know what this means, and how to get around this? Are these "projects" supported? A lot of searching gave my nothing but conflicting answers (to 2012 related questions)

I have three website domains viz

1- www.majorgainz.com

2- www.majorgainz.in

3- www.majorgains.in

Entire Web site content is deployed on 1st domain.

When i type 2nd and 3rd domain names in browser, entire website is loaded in Framset, even when I click any link, it does the same,there is no any changes in url.

But any content is updated on site, it gets reflected in rest of the two domains also.

Can any one guid me, why website is loaded in frameset ?

I also want when people type www.majorgainz.in or www.majorgains.in, they should redirected to www.majorgainz.com - how to do that ?

I tried this a few months ago, but stop after getting totaly frustrated. 

I am developing using Visual Studio Profession 2012 on a Windows 7 Ultimate machine.  I have a few web pages developed that I want to run on a Windows Server 2003 R2 machine running IIS 6.  This server has been running our sites for a few years - using HTML and classic ASP without issues.

I am moving my new pages using "Copy Web Site" in VS to the server without incident.  When I try to access the pages from the existing website, I get the error below.  I previously tried to install .NET 4.0 as needed.  On the server, under Windows Add/Remove Programs I see Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service pack 2, Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service pack 2, Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1, Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 Client Profile and Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 Extended.

In IIS Manager, under "Web Service Extensions"  I see (among other listings) ASP.NET v1.1.4322, ASP.NET v2.0.50727 and ASP.NET v4.0.30319.  Under the Application Pools, I do see the existing sites and the new reference to the pages I just created, but I do not see any way to change the ASP.NET version.

Any help that can be given would be greatly appreciated.

i migrate an application to a cloud server, and there are some functions, that dont work.

The application is developed in .net 1.1, and uses dbcombo for some textfields etc. now that i migrate that application when i am trying to use a some of its functions i get the error below:

Because i never used that before, can anyone tell me where can i obtain the key (the website www.dbcombo.net has nothing about that) or what else should i do in order to make dbcombo functional to the other domain?

I'm trying to do something which I know might seem a bit odd! I've spent ages trying to figure it out and if there is a way around it including hundreds of searches and I'm coming to the conclusion it either needs someone much smarter than me or it just cant be done!

Anyway....

Im running some aspx pages on a Windows 7 machine running IIS 7.5, all the expected stuff is working fine. However I'm trying to execute some commands which affect the host machine directly, such as "sendkeys" and "shell".

These work perfectly when I test them on IIS Express from VS for Web but not when I deploy them to the production IIS7.5 server.

Sendkeys gives me a permission denied error and shell just does nothing. I've set imprsonation up and this appear to be working, also I've changed the application pool to run as the local user.

Is there anything else I can try?

Any suggestions welcome or likewise let me know if it just wont work so I don't waste any more of my life on this!

P.S. The machine is local only with no net connection so I'm not worried about apply permissions.

P.P.S. The purpose of this is to use as a home automation type server, the machine running IIS is visible on my TV and I use Media Center. The existing pages send out serial commands for relays, x10 switches controlling my lights and blinds etc.
